Big Sur Coastline
The print "Big Sur Coastline" is from an original painting of this rocky coastline with large boulders and impressive surf. There is a rugged beauty to Big Sur, with its steep cliffs plunging down into the Pacific Ocean where the waves are constantly crashing against the rocks and sometimes the rocky shoreline will have little coves hiding a small cave or some other treasure. I wanted to paint this small cove because it was protected from the big surf and yet the white water from the waves still came in to crash against the rocks on the beach. The water here was a beautiful blue color and clear enough to see the sea floor under the surf.
