Forbidden Beach
The location of this print is the western most point of Point Reyes National Seashore. I liked painting this particular angle of the peninsula because it creates an illusion of two bodies of water, each with a separate look and feel due to the protection of the tall land mass between them. Along with the late summer sun setting in the background and the long shadows on the cliffs this painting really shows the magic of Point Reyes. I named this painting "Forbidden Beach" because in the foreground there's a very inviting beach with no way to access it. It's to be fully protected by its towering bluffs to be left alone (except for the occasional elephant seal).
