Late Afternoon Radiance
The print "Late Afternoon Radiance" is from a painting I painted during my favorite time of day, the golden hour. It is the time of day when light and shadows come into a wonderful contrast of color, and the sun is low on the horizon. Sunlight rays must penetrate the atmosphere for a greater distance, reducing the intensity of the direct light, so that more of the illumination comes from indirect light from the sky. In the painting "Late Afternoon Radiance" the golden hour is illuminating a landscape, once fenced off long ago, now an open land ready for exploring with an inviting glow that draws the viewer further into the far ridges, wondering "what's beyond the next hill."
