Oak Tree on the Ridge” is a print of an oak tree on Bolinas Ridge in Marin County that is overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The reflection of the sun from the ocean is back lighting the tree causing the tree to be illuminated from the underside with the ridge and grasses remaining in the shade, which normally is an unusual lighting effect in nature. This painting was a great study in light because of this unusual effect and to have the tree silhouetted with the sky as its backdrop.
